REDMOND, Wash.—Beginning Jan. 1, 2000, residents and businesses in Redmond, Wash., that have not registered their alarms will be subject to a no-response policy. In October 1999, police sent forms that asked all alarm owners to register their alarms and pay a $10 fee.
In addition to the no-response policy, the new law fines end users $25 for the second false alarm per year, with each subsequent false increasing the fine by $25. After six falses, police will no longer respond.
