North American Video (NAV), a full service security systems integrator, has been awarded the video surveillance systems contract for the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) of Los Angeles County.
NAV will provide a networked video surveillance system that includes over 140 Infinova pan/tilt/zoom (p/t/z) dome cameras. Also included in the contract are mounting accessories and coaxial cable converters.
The new surveillance system “will vastly improve law enforcement officials’ ability to monitor and react to suspect activities,” says Ron Freschi, NAV’s director of large system sales. “We are extremely pleased to have been selected by the Los Angeles County MTA to help them create a safer environment for county residents.”
The MTA operates the third largest public transportation system in the United States based on ridership and area covered. With a 1,433-square-mile operating area and 2,000 buses on the street any given business day, the MTA also designed, built and now operates 73.1 miles of urban rail service. The authority also employs more than 9,200 workers, making it one of the region’s largest employers.
