Loss Prevention Services Inc. (LPS) of Clemmens, N.C., has received the UL designation for its alarm monitoring services after changing its business focus a year ago. Founder and president Larry McClellan said that to attain UL certification, LPS invested in new high-end communications equipment, automation software and a network of power back-up systems to prevent any service interruptions.
During its early years, LPS provided unarmed security guards to businesses, but McClellan sold that division to the Budd Group in 2004 and turned the company’s main focus to its alarm monitoring division.
LPS caters to homes and businesses in the Carolinas, Kentucky, Virginia and Tennessee.
