N.Y. Apartment Complex Jumps Generation of Technology

Published: February 14, 2006

NEW YORK — A sophisticated IP-based video security system that is in many ways ahead of its time has officially gone into operational status at a New York City apartment complex. Al Simon, president of Fairview, N.J.-based Nortronics Corp., formally introduced on Jan. 10 the sophisticated technology behind the integrated security system at the four-building 1199 Plaza/East River Landing complex in upper Manhattan to a group of public officials, security equipment manufacturers, property managers, architects, Nortronics personnel and residents.

Readers of Security Sales & Integration got an advance peek at the East River Landing installation in the January 2006 issue.

The complex essentially jumped a generation of technology, from old-fashioned VCRs and analog CCTV security cameras to new networked-based systems that rely on hard-drive storage. The new digital system also allows for more effective real-time monitoring using more than 100 outdoor cameras.
