NYPD Boss: 3,000 Cameras Will Help Secure World Trade Center

NEW YORK — A wired network of more than 3,000 video cameras will help secure One World Trade Center from future terrorist attacks, New York Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly wrote in a New York Post editorial.

Addressing concerns that security measures on the project would be “Draconian,” Kelly wrote that he would make no apologies for the measures because the site “remains a prime target of our enemies.”

In fact, the Port Authority has agreed to integrate all of the security technologies deployed throughout the site (including more than 3,000 closed-circuit TV cameras) into the NYPD’s state-of-the art Coordination Center, where they can be monitored 24/7 by police personnel.
