More details have emerged on the reorganization at Panasonic Corp. and its Panasonic Security Systems operations. Under a corporate realignment, Panasonic Security will be one of the businesses folded into the newly formed Panasonic System Solutions Company of America (PSSA). Also incorporating into PSSA will be Panasonic’s Vision Systems and Information Systems divisions, and the Corporate Systems operation that includes the Astrovision® large video displays and retailTV™ digital signage.

The businesses under PSSA are combining their sales, marketing, product development and support operations. Frank DeFina, formerly president of Panasonic Security and Digital Imaging Co., will serve as PSSA president. He said in a statement that the formation of PSSA reflects the growing need to integrate systems. “There is a growing demand for more advanced systems solutions … where all critical data and communications will eventually exist on a common platform,” DeFina says.

PSSA’s parent company announced in December its plans to streamline U.S. operations, changing the name of its U.S. business from Matsushita Electric Corp. of America to Panasonic Corp. of America.
