Panasonic Security & Digital Imaging Co. (PSDI) Security Systems Group (SSG) has entered into a technology partnering agreement with Simplex Time Recorder Co. The two companies will cooperate with each other in the design and development of new CCTV system products for a wide range of applications. “The basic concept is related to the immediate opportunities in the so-called traditional security business, such as CCTV. The second component is the development of products for the future using core technology, but in different applications,” Frank DeFina, president of PSDI, tells Security Sales. “The area for the future is digital-based CCTV products and network-based CCTV products. Simplex has very efficient market penetration, not only in the United States but globally, and it can contribute a great deal to these products.” Simplex is a provider of integrated solutions for fire detection, security, building communications and workforce information.

DeFina says new products are already arising from the partnership, under the new cctvNT(tm) moniker, and that Panasonic SSG continues to seek other technology partners. “In the future, it is going to be difficult to enter this ever-expanding market alone, so we have to locate suitable partners like Simplex,” he adds. “On a global basis, we are changing the way CCTV is happening. We are going to be at the forefront of the evolution from the current CCTV market to the business of the future.”
