With Wi-Fi security cameras come the problems of poor connectivity and possible network vulnerability. Panasonic‘s Nubo wireless camera solves that by using a 4G cellular connection instead of Wi-Fi.

The Panasonic Nubo wireless home security camera is weather resistant, designed for both indoor and outdoor use. It features a motion sensor, two-way communication and can send alerts when activity is detected.

“Our vision is to deliver a product that allows users the freedom and flexibility of choosing where the camera can be used and the confidence in knowing that the data created is securely transmitted and stored. With the introduction of Nubo, we’re putting the control of safety and surveillance into the user’s hands,” says Tijmen Vos, CTO of Panasonic Cameramanager and Product Evangelist of Panasonic Nubo.

Another benefit of the Panasonic Nubo is that it can work with an optional external battery pack-that, and the 4G connectivity, mean you can take the camera with you on vacation or other out-of-home uses. The Nubo camera stores recordings on a MicroSD card and on the cloud in a secure Panasonic cloud storage system, which can be accessed, viewed and managed on a smart phone or tablet.

The Panasonic Nubo home security cameras will first be launched in Europe. Pre-orders for United States customers begin in April. No word on the price or service plans yet or what U.S. cell phone carriers the home security cameras will work with.
