Pelco Honors Fallen Heroes at 9/11 Observance
CLOVIS, Calif.
Hundreds of Pelco employees, guests and area residents joined Thursday at the company’s world headquarters in Clovis, Calif., to mark the seventh anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.
Special guests in attendance who were at the scene of the attacks included Chief Anthony Whitaker from the New York Port Authority Police and Andy Isolano, former FDNY firefighter.
Pelco President and CEO Dean Meyer addressed the gathering held at the company’s California Memorial, a permanent monument in memory of all the victims and fallen heroes of 9/11.
“I am proud to be a part of a company that is dedicated to the recognition and remembrance of those who lost so much,” Meyer said. “It is an honor to have the men and women of the armed forces, the families of fallen soldiers, law enforcement and emergency services personnel, as well as Pelco employees and community members all here.”
During the ceremony, three local families were each presented a flag on behalf of their sons who were lost while serving in Iraq. A representative from a local high school also was presented a flag to honor several of its students who were killed in Iraq.
The remembrance included a wreath procession with motor escort accompanied by a rendition of “Amazing Grace” played on bagpipes, along with a 21-gun salute and singing of the National Anthem.
“We must never forget the thousands of innocent men and women who went to work that day and never returned home,” said Pelco Chairman of the Board David McDonald. “I strongly believe that every American now shares this responsibility. We must never forget.”
