Pelco to Host 9/11 Remembrance at Its California Memorial

CLOVIS, Calif.

On Sept. 11, there two commemorative events will be held at
the California Memorial at Pelco‘s Clovis
headquarters. Guests of honor will include small contingents
of New York police officers and firefighters, Port Authority
police officers, and the NYPD Bagpipe Band. At 5:30 a.m.,
there will be a brief ceremony coinciding with the time of
the first attack (5:46 a.m.) against the World Trade Center.
This event will include the playing of “Taps” and “Amazing
Grace” as the U.S. Marine Corp. lowers the memorial flag to
half-staff. In addition, there will be a 21-gun salute.

At noon, there will be an hourlong program of music and
remembrances, including performances by several artists from
the Dec. 8, 2001 Dedication Ceremony. Fresno Mayor Alan
Autry
will act as master of ceremonies, while speakers
will include California Secretary of State Bill Jones
and Chief Anthony Whitaker of the New York Port
Authority. The ceremony will also include a fly-over and
release of white doves.
