Pinkerton USA, part of the Securitas Group, has announced it has reached agreements to acquire American Protective Services Inc. (APS), based in Oakland, Calif., and First Security Services Corp. of Boston. Terms of the agreements were not disclosed. Through these deals, Pinkerton will become the leader in United States market share, with revenues of approximately $1.5 billion and more than 57,000 employees. “The acquisition of two of the strongest security companies in the U.S. today is a powerful growth opportunity and will greatly enhance our ability to deliver an exceptional level of service to our clients will into the new decade,” says Don W. Walker, president of Pinkerton. APS is the nation’s largest privately held security company and the fourth-largest overall, generating about $400 million in revenues. First Security is one of the largest companies in the northeastern U.S., with about $140 million in revenues. Pinkerton is a provider of global security solutions.
