Pinnacle Security Charitable Efforts Support Habitat for Humanity

By Ashley Willis

OREM, Utah — Under its “Securing Hope” initiative, Pinnacle Security recently partnered with Habitat for Humanity to complete the construction of a house for a single mother and her two children.

As many as 12 Pinnacle employees finished painting, installed appliances and completed trim work on the house, located in Orem, Utah, where the company is headquartered. There are also plans to surprise the family with a security system, Pinnacle Security Vice President of Corporate Communications Stuart Dean tells SSI.

“We started this initiative to supply support and aid to those in need nationally and globally,” he says. “Although we’re a company that can provide financial assistance, we’re also really good at rolling up our sleeves and actually doing more. Habitat for Humanity is a really good example of that.”

Dean notes that the “Securing Hope” initiative is a team effort. A committee made up of several department leaders reviews community outreach opportunities and decides on the best projects for the company. Various Pinnacle employees also provide input. “This current job came to our attention through our installation department,” says Dean. “They actually volunteered their time to work and finish the home.”

Since its start in October 2010, “Securing Hope” has supplied homes and electricity to Honduras residents. The company has also donated roughly $300,000 in philanthropic efforts with no plans of slowing down anytime soon.

SSI is actually the first to hear about our upcoming efforts,” says Dean. “We’re partnering with Beyond Borders to raise $200,000 to provide building and assistance to a hospital in Kenya.”

The company is also launching its “Day of Giving” campaign in May where 15 to 25 sales people in 60 markets will team up with local charities such as United Way. “Our sales team will help out at day-care centers, paint the interiors at a hospice care facility or clean up a park. They’ll basically go wherever there is a need,” says Dean.
