Published: June 15, 2011

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. — Imaging chipset provider Pixim Inc. has acquired Advasense Technologies Ltd., a CMOS image sensor technology provider. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Located in Ra’anana, Israel, Advasense supplies sensors used in mobile applications. Its development of deep photodiodes enhances pixel well capacity. The technology is also said to improve image quality in all lighting conditions as pixel size gets smaller.

Pixim plans to integrate Advasense’s image sensor-specific product design into its existing product development organization. Having already seen an increase in sales due to its Seawolf chip, Pixim said in a statement it expects the acquisition to further accelerate strong sales growth.
