Police in Colorado Springs, Colo., are not responding to customers of a local alarm company because it neglected filing the proper permits with the city.
An official with Pro Alert has admitted to KRDO-TV that it has not filed the necessary permits but says the company, which has been in business for two years, wasn’t aware of the problem until the middle of this month.
While Pro Alert’s contract says the customer is responsible for the permits, Skip Arms of the Colorado Springs Police tells KRDO the general public isn’t allowed to obtain alarm permits on their own. “It’s the responsibility of the alarm company to obtain the $12 registration fee and remit that to the city,” Arms says.
In the meantime, Pro Alert says it has hired a guard service to respond to alarms and they will also call police as needed.
