WINTER HAVEN, Fla. – A man claiming to represent two alarm companies has been targeting elderly people here, pressuring them to sign an alarm contract.

The salesman, who worked in the southeast area of Winter Haven on June 1 and 2, told homeowners that he worked for ADT and Capital Connect.

Police said the salesman pressured the elderly homeowners to sign a contract. In one incident, one victim was so afraid that they almost signed the contract to get the man to leave, WTSP.com.

All door-to-door salespeople must be registered with the city of Winter Haven. Because there is no record of permit, the door-to-door salesman is illegally pitching his product to residents.
