Port Hueneme, Calif., Residents, Patrons Must Acquire Alarm Permit

Published: August 31, 2000

PORT HUENEME, Calif.—A false alarm ordinance went into effect in Port Hueneme on July 1, which requires permits and establishes a graduated fee structure. However, it is only applicable for residential and commercial burglar alarms. An initial annual permit application must be submitted to the city within 15 days after the installation of an alarm system. The permits are free of charge to alarm users and should be annually renewed by July 1.

Port Hueneme authorities expect to significantly reduce the number of false alarms through the enactment of this ordinance, as well as put more police officers on the street.
