Portland State Univ., Selectron to Host Campus Public Safety Roundtable

PORTLAND, Ore.

Portland State University will conduct a campus public safety roundtable July 9-10 to explore new technologies, funding sources and implementation strategies for universities located throughout the Northwest.

Held at the campus’ University Place Conference Center, the event is co-sponsored by Selectron Inc., an independent provider of integrated security management systems based in Portland.

“I see this as a great opportunity for colleges and universities in the private and public arenas to roundtable with experts and professionals in their field on concerns, options and resources in maintaining a safer campus environment,” says Chief Michael Soto, Portland State University. “We are all involved in the big picture of safety; no matter how small or big our campus communities. The vendor technology alone is worth the attendance.”

Audience members are expected to include personnel from university security departments, facilities, housing, IT professionals, administrators, and campus safety organizations.

“This is an opportunity to bring campuses from across the Northwest together to discuss campus safety issues,” says Mike Kobelin, vice president, Selectron. “We want to support and encourage an informed discourse between campus community professionals, and technology manufactures so that educated safety decisions can be made.”
