POS System Captures Text Directly From 10/100 Ethernet Network

Published: May 31, 2006

The ProBridge with Ethernet or PBe by GE Security of Bradenton, Fla., is designed to capture point-of-sale (POS) and automatic teller machine (ATM) text and superimpose it on the associated recorded video. The system is designed to obtain text from an existing 10/100 Ethernet network to which an ATM machine or POS equipment connects.

Traditional systems perform this task by connecting directly to the equipment using a serial connection. The PBe effectively converts this text into a usable format that can be read by the GE Security digital video multiplexer recorder. The system is capable of addressing up to 16 IP-based terminals. The data is synchronized with the recorded video and can be viewed on a GE DVMRe or StoreSafe Pro unit. It can also be read using a remote connection in conjunction with WaveReader software.
