In a chat with Security Sales & Integration, the
president of the newly formed Honeywell Systems Group says
it is much more than just a name change. John Lorenty says
the merging of Honeywell’s access control and video systems
business units will bring together access and video
managers in one location in Louisville, Ky., and result in
truly integrated security products entering the market.
“We’re talking about integrating the product,” Lorenty
says. “People are running into interfaces and not truly
integrated products. What people will see is true
integration.”
Honeywell announced recently that it was merging HREF=’t_ci_newsView.cfm?nid=2481′ TARGET=’_blank’>its
access and video units to provide dealers and
integrators with products that integrate both video and
access solutions.
While Lorenty says “truly tight integration” has been a
common request from dealers, it is the customers they serve
that are raising the loudest voice.
“At the end of the day, it’s not the integrators screaming
for integration, it’s the end user,” says Lorenty, who says
he meets often with a selected panel of end users. “End
users played a part of the decision to combine the group
and feed a lot of our development.”
Lorenty says Honeywell Systems Group will act as one of
three main entities providing security products from
Honeywell. While his group will bring access and video
products to market, Honeywell Security will continue to
handle intrusion systems and ADI will continue to provide
full-service product distribution.
