Princeton Identity to Show How Biometrics Create Safer, More Convenient Workplace at ISC West 2021

Attendees will see applications for visitor management and remote network security, as well as new technologies to support self-enrollment and Cloud deployment.

HAMILTON, N.J. — Princeton Identity, a provider of multimodal iris and face biometric identity solutions, announces it will exhibit a range of novel biometric solutions at ISC West that support the onsite convenience and remote flexibility of the hybrid post-COVID workplace.

Visitors will see applications for visitor management and remote network security, as well as new technologies to support self-enrollment and Cloud deployment.

Princeton will exhibit the ease with which individuals can enroll into a biometric database at a self-serve kiosk, similar to how identity verification occurs at international border crossings. Permissions are set for enrolled visitors to enter specific areas of a building for one-time or recurring windows of time. They need only to glance at readers placed at doorways, stairwells and elevators to move about.

Using iris and face biometrics instead of other forms of credentialing allows repeat visitors with regularly scheduled appointments to bypass the registration desk or kiosk during future visits. Their presence is logged as they pass through readers. Because biometric credentials are unique to each individual and cannot be shared, management can be fully confident that only authorized visitors are admitted.

Cyber threats now outrank physical threats as the most pressing security risk facing companies, driving many IT departments to embrace a “Zero Trust” policy that requires users to repeatedly verify and authenticate their identity as they interact with the network, according to the company. This is particularly critical for remote workers, who have not had to verify their identity by entering a physical workplace.

As businesses fully reopen post-pandemic, many workers will retain the right to work remotely, at least part-time, making the need for a convenient way to implement Zero Trust all the more crucial. Requiring remote employees to enter a password each time they open a file, edit a file, save a file, or send an email can be burdensome and inefficient.

Instead, their computer’s camera or an attached encrypted biometric reader can verify their face or iris as they work, providing continual validation that only authenticated users are accessing the network. Should someone else take their place or join them, the computer would immediately shut down or close the application.

Cloud deployment of biometric solutions allows enrollment databases to be shared and accessed across multiple locations. For example, healthcare workers could seamlessly enter restricted areas at any hospital where they have privileges. Patients could verify their identity and allow staff to access their records at any facility within the network.

Replacing multiple biometric databases with a single, centralized repository eliminates duplicate enrollments, provides continuity of record-keeping, reduces administrative errors and simplifies system management, according to the company. Cloud biometric solutions also offer simplified integration with other Cloud technologies.

Bobby Varma, CEO of Princeton Identity, says, “As society increasingly values the customer experience as a key component of security best practices, we are poised to enter a golden age of biometrics. PI is excited to share with ISC visitors new ways to leverage the power of our biometric identity solutions to harden security and create more open and welcoming workplaces simultaneously.”
