Canadian electronic security firm Protectron Inc. has extended its reach north of the U.S. border with the acquisition of the Surrey, British Columbia-based Valley Alarms. Terms of the deal were undisclosed.

Valley Alarm sells and installs security systems and provides remote surveillance services to residential and commercial customers. Protectron says the acquisition will push its number of remote surveillance subscribers to 170,000.

“The acquisition of Valley Alarms fits perfectly into Protectron’s growth strategy, and at the same time provides us fast access to the main high-potential Canadian markets,” says Protectron President and CEO Daniel Demers. Demers adds that most of Valley Alarms’ workers will keep their positions and other positions will be created.
