Jeff Zwirn’s Expert Tip of the Month: Always Take Photographic Evidence
For each alarm system installation performed, have your installer photograph the inside of the control panel set. The same should apply to existing systems and takeover projects.
Thereafter, have a qualified person carefully review the photographs and electronically store and secure them in the event of a loss. Furthermore, tag the control panel with the subscriber’s name for identification purposes.
If a defect or irregularity is identified, the subscriber needs to be advised of this. Of course, any costs to rectify may or may not be covered under your limited warranty so be sure to familiarize yourself with such documents and coverage. You should also consider photographing other equipment at the jobsite as well.
