The 2001 R.A. Henderson Award has been presented to Dennis Hollingshead, vice president and general manager of Counterforce Inc. of Toronto. A long-time member of the Canadian Alarm and Security Association (CANASA) board of directors, Hollingshead was given the award during the Security Canada Central 2001 show in Toronto. According to the release from CANASA, the award is presented to one person each year “who has demonstrated extraordinary achievements within the alarm industry, and who has made significant contributions to the advancement of the interests of the entire industry.”

Hollingshead has been a member of CANASA since 1977 and has served in many leadership roles within the association during the past three decades, including the roles of president, and recently, treasurer. He co-founded Counterforce in 1988 and prior to that was president of national sales for Motorola Canada, vice president of electronic security for Chubb Industries Ltd. , and president and CEO of Mytec Technologies Inc.

The award was judged by past CANASA presidents; they cited strong industry support and leadership on key issues of importance to the industry as reasons for his selection. Ivan Spector, a previous president of CANASA says, “Dennis has been a tireless inspiration to all of us who have worked with him. His low-key style and wisdom have been a guiding hand for the past three presidents, and his presence will surely be missed.”
