SYRACUSE, N.Y. — Rapid Response, based here, is in the midst of a major expansion during the past 10 years. It has gone from serving 900 companies with 300,000 subscribers to 1,700 companies and more than 1 million subscribers.

And that expansion is not just limited to the New York area; calls come into Rapid Response’s dispatch center from Syracuse, Canada and even the Caribbean, as detailed in a Local Syr report.

“We’re protecting life and property, that’s our day to day here,” said Rapid Response Marketing Manager Chris Denniston.

The company is in its 26th year and it takes pride in helping people service their security needs or walk them through a call to their dispatch center.

“They’re sometimes stressed out or not really sure what’s going on or what they’re supposed to do, and we at the other end of the phone are there to help them through that, explain what’s going on and give them their options, know everything is going to be OK as long as they give us the direction on what they want us to do,” said operations manager Jonathan Rainbow.

Rapid Response chose Syracuse as the company’s stomping grounds because of a lack of extreme weather like tornados or earthquakes, which can result in bringing down security systems. However, in the event of unforeseen bad weather or snow that knocks out the power, the company has four Jeep-sized generators on hand.
