WALTHAM, Mass. – Raytheon (NYSE: RTN) says it has accelerated its expansion into managed security services with the acquisition of Herndon, Va.-based Foreground Security.

Foreground Security is provider of security operations centers (SOCs), managed security service solutions and cybersecurity services. The company has approximately 165 employees, 85% of whom are said to be trained cybersecurity experts. It will now conduct operations as Raytheon Foreground Security.
“Raytheon Foreground Security has an exceptionally strong portfolio of solutions and proprietary technology in some of the fastest growing segments of the cybersecurity market,” says Dave Wajsgras, president of Raytheon Intelligence, Information and Services. “Importantly, they will complement and expand our cybersecurity business.”

Foreground Security’s products include its Virtual Security Operations Center and Automated Threat Intelligence Platform for advanced cyber monitoring, threat hunting and professional services.
Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
