Bradenton, Fla.-based GE Security’s Transition Series multitechnology card readers are now able to read HID corporate 1000 CSN proximity cards and iCLASS smart cards. Transition Series readers also are compatible with multivendor 125KHz GE and HID proximity cards as well as contactless smart cards that meet the Mifare (ISO 14443A) and Vicinity (ISO 15893) standards. They also operate using most Wiegand-based data communications protocols, up to 64 bits. This includes the most popular biometric technologies.
GE’s Transition Series card readers are intended to make the task of conversion from a legacy technology to smart card easy and relatively painless. They allow companies to continue using their existing prox cards while slowly migrating users to a more secure technology. They also allow the simultaneous use of multiple card technologies.
