Q: I have a customer who doesn’t want to upgrade his outdoor lighting for a camera application. There is a lot of asphalt and background black. Can you recommend a color camera that I will be able to get a large lux range out of?
A: Take a look at the Sanyo VCC-4324. It is a color camera and will automatically go to B/W at 0.1 lux and then can go to IR viewing at under 0.1 lux. Its infrared lightning response is greater than 930 nanometers. Remember to inform your customer that the 0.1 lux and below ranges are black and white.
Q: I am sick and tired of having surface-mount contacts come loose and fall off. Do you have any suggestions for something that will stick and I can forget about it?
A: Yes, get a small tube, not the big caulk tube, of Liquid Nail®. Apply a small bead stripe, push and apply. Hold momentarily for a good set. Make sure it is where you want it the first time as this stuff holds solid. You can get it at the hardware store or even some local drug stores for a few dollars. Once this stuff has set you can, as they say in the Big Apple, ‘Forget About It….’
