Roost Adds Water Leak and Frozen Pipe Detector to Smart Home Offering

The Roost Smart Water and Freeze Detector sends a notification to the homeowner’s smartphone as a preventative measure.

SAN FRANCISCO — Roost has released its latest smart home offering, the Roost Smart Water and Freeze Detector, which sends a notification to a homeowner’s smartphone in the event of a water leak or frozen pipe.

The smart home device is supposed to send an early warning notification through its smartphone app to alert the homeowner before the problem occurs. It’s meant as a preventative measure, which can save homeowners from paying for repair work. If the basement temperature near the pipes reaches 36 degrees, a notification is sent to the phone.

The sensors also alert homeowners in the event of mold and mildew damage as the result of high humidity and inefficient energy use due to abnormal home temperature.
