SACRAMENTO, Calif. — More video surveillance is coming to downtown Sacramento to help provide increased security, particularly around the Golden 1 Center, the home arena of the NBA’s Sacramento Kings.
The Sacramento Police Department says there will be 10 new security cameras added to downtown on top of the 30 that are already posted. The cameras will be indicated by a bright, flashing light with police department decals on all sides.
“This will help us with real-time viewing for events [like] basketball games [and] concerts so that we can assist and make sure that we are helping to keep citizens of Sacramento safe as they come and go from downtown,” program manager Sgs. Marnie Stigerts told KCRA 3.
Some of the surveillance cameras will also be equipped with license plate-reading technology, according to the report.
