SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — Security contractor and monitoring provider Safeguard Security has acquired Santa Fe, N.M.-based New Mexico Security Services (NMSS). Terms of the deal were not released.
The deal came about after Carmen Purdy, the former owner of NMSS, called Safeguard Security CEO John Jennings to share that she was ready to retire, Jennings tells SSI.
“We weren’t actively seeking to acquire, but we’re always in the market for the right deal,” he says.
New Mexico Security Services provides access control, CCTV, fire alarm and intrusion systems to an 80% residential, 20% commercial customer base. Safeguard will add more than 900 accounts in the transaction. Additionally, the company will keep two NMSS employees on its team, Jennings says.
Founded in 1961, Safeguard Security provides security and technology services, such as alarm systems, video surveillance, controlled access and Internet security for more than 20,000 clients throughout Arizona and New Mexico. The company also has its own UL-Listed central station.
Safeguard will also offer remote video and system management services to its newly acquired accounts.
