It’s official. As previously reported in Security Control Panel, Habitat for Humanity Intl. and the Safety, Awareness and Independence Now Through Security (SAINTS) Foundationhave formed a partnership. The SAINTS Foundation, supported by trade associations and private companies in the security industry, will donate security services, including the installation of burglar and fire alarms and, lock hardware, to each Habitat project in North America. The SAINTS Foundation and Habitat estimate that the donation could reach $9.5 million in the first year of the project. This level of donation places the SAINTS Foundation in the Cornerstone Society of Habitat for Humanity’s More Than Houses: Rebuilding Our Communities campaign, chaired by former Secretary for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development Jack Kemp.

“The security industry and the SAINTS Foundation are very proud and honored to be affiliated with Habitat for Humanity,” says Ron Spiller, president of the SAINTS Foundation and executive director of the Security Industry Association (SIA), the industry trade group that initiated the foundation’s formation. “Individual empowerment is a great part of what Habitat provides. That uniquely parallels the security industry.”

The initial security industry donors to the SAINTS/Habitat program are ADT Security Services Inc., Brink’s Home Security, NAPCO Security Group, Securitron Magnalock and Select Engineered Systems. Dedicated to eliminating poverty housing, Habitat for Humanity is an ecumenical Christian ministry. The SAINTS Foundation was created as an extension of the SAINTS program, which donated burglar and fire alarm systems to churches in the Congress of National Black Churches Church Rebuilding and Arson Prevention Program.
