The Security Industry Association (SIA) wishes to offer the following clarifications to the story about the new SAINTS initiative involving Habitat for Humanity Intl. that appeared on the Security Sales Web site and in the Security Control Panel E-mail newsletter. The proposed program with Habitat would fall under the auspices of a new SAINTS foundation. It would be an evolution of the Congress of National Black Churches/SAINTS coalition program partnership, which donated security and fire systems to churches that were victimized by arson. The original SAINTS coalition partners —SIA, the National Burglar and Fire Alarm Association (NBFAA), the Central Station Alarm Association (CSAA), the American Society of Industrial Security (ASIS) and the International Association of Professional Security Consultants (IAPSC)—will work to restructure their efforts to bring their respective members into the new foundation structure and to facilitate wider industry participation.
The foundation is in its formative stages and its design will ultimately leave it completely autonomous. The Habitat initiative is very close to being finalized but it is not as of yet. Discussions with Habitat and with certain national alarm companies, including ADT and Brink’s Home Security, have occurred and have been very positive. Habitat for Humanity is very excited about the potential of the program. ADT and Brink’s, as one might expect, expressed excitement and offered their valuable services to the new program. The details of their exact commitments, and opportunities for other national companies and smaller companies, are yet to be finalized.
