ScanSource Security, a distribution unit of ScanSource Inc., is tailoring its services to security dealers of IP video and wireless products. The company will provide network assessments, design services, Wi-Fi site surveys, virtual design and outdoor point-to-point surveys to its dealers.
These offerings are expected to ensure more accurate planning, enhanced performance, reliability and a more successful installation.
“As video surveillance continues to move to IP, it’s critical that dealers ensure their customers’ existing network infrastructure can support network video and has the necessary bandwidth for technological advancements,” says Paul Constantine, vice president of merchandising of ScanSource Security. “Our services are designed to help dealers assess the suitability of their end-user customers’ infrastructure, while also identifying opportunities for enhancements and upgrades.”
ScanSource Security’s network assessment and design services include remote metrics testing and reporting, QoS consultation, convergence strategy development, equipment QoS verification, summary and recommendations document, final consultation and test.
The Wi-Fi site survey and virtual design services include AP type and location recommendations, antenna recommendations, AirWise report and wired LAN integration report.
The outdoor point-to-point survey includes a confirmation of line-of-sight access and frequencies, equipment recommendations, as well as signal strength, noise, signal-to-noise ratio and channel interference maps.
