DENVER — VTI Security Integrators has installed a video surveillance system for 54 elementary, middle and high school locations in a Colorado school district. The Douglas County School District, based in Castle Rock, Colo., requested the system that includes 424 color and day/night cameras as well as DVRs and remote monitoring software.
Cameras, using mostly equipment from GE Security, are only used in common security areas, like hallways and cafeterias, and not in classrooms.
“Video will not prevent anything unless you have 24-hour monitoring and instant response, but when you can combine it, you maximize the ability to identify a situation before it occurs,” says Bryan Viau, vice president of business development for VTI, with headquarters in Burnsville, Minn.
