San Joaquin Superior Court is scheduled to discontinue security at the court entrances in Manteca, Tracy, Lodi and the Juvenile Court in French Camp. Throughout the state, a cost reduction of $22 million has been instated and $320,000 has been taken from the San Joaquin Superior Court.

X-ray machines will be removed and metal detectors at the front doors will be moved to the inside of the courthouse. Sheriff’s deputies will now be enforcing security since the security guards have now been laid off. Bailiffs will cover all aspects of security inside the courthouse.

Court executive officer Rosa Junqueiro says, “With our recent budget situation, we find ourselves in a position where we can no longer provide the citizens of this county with the same or better level of service they have come to expect.”
