Security Broadband Corp., a provider of home security systems, announces that it now offers a residential security system combining audio and video and is monitored via the customer’s cable modem. The system, called SafeVillage, is available to customers of Comcast Cable Communications in Sarasota, Fla., and Cox Communications in Las Vegas.
In-home intercom and CCTV will give the central monitoring station dynamic data. The only time live audio and video will be sent from a customer’s home to the central monitoring station will be during an alarm event. The data will be used to help verify response.
Dallas Clement, senior vice president, strategy and development of Cox Communications, says, “After a successful market trial, we determined that Cox customers could truly benefit from the enhanced security capabilities that the SafeVillage system offers. Security Broadband is a trusted and valued partner that has worked closely with us, as well as other leading cable companies, to bring such a reliable and flexible security service to our customers.”
