Security Contractor Sentenced for Identity Theft

NEW HAVEN, Conn.

The owner of a Connecticut alarm company has received a
prison sentence and fine after using a client’s personal
information to obtain credit cards. Kenneth Moore, owner of
Security Plus Associates in North Haven, was sentenced to
43 months in federal prison and three years’ probation by a
U.S. district judge. He was also ordered to repay
$209,669.25.

The sentencing comes after
Moore’s Feb. 27
guilty plea in a U.S.
District Court
. Shortly thereafter, Moore confessed to
using a customer’s personal information to obtain credit
cards with which he made purchases such as two trucks, a
Mercedes-Benz and a fishing boat in 2001.

He also opened credit card accounts with US Bank, First
National Bank of Omaha, Shell Oil, Lowe’s and Macy’s using
his customer’s name.
