INDIANAPOLIS – Several hundred security alarm industry professionals were once again on hand for the Electronic Security Expo (ESX), held for the first time in its 10+ year history in the shadows of the legendary Indianapolis Motor Speedway, whose famous Indy 500 race had taken place just one week prior.
Some show-goers were still able to visit the 110-year-old “Brickyard” as ESX included “VIP Indy Experience at the Indy Speedway” as one of its evening activities.
Jointly owned by the Electronic Security Association (ESA) and The Monitoring Association (TMA), in addition to touching down in Indy for the first time, ESX also took place earlier in June (3-6) than usual.
The event still delivered what has become a consistently worthwhile and valuable mix of educational sessions, social networking opportunities and awards programs. The other major aspect of ESX is its exposition, where this year more than 100 vendors showed their wares, reconnected with existing dealer customers and prospected new relationships.
While overall attendance appeared slightly down this year, particularly evident on the expo floor, vendors nevertheless seemed satisfied with the event. Several shared that while the traffic was light those who they did interact with were of a high caliber and so those exhibitors expressed how quality can trump quantity.
Several activities, such as the ESX Innovation Awards and some mixers, were also held on the expo floor in attempts to keep things lively.
Next year’s ESX returns to Nashville, Tenn., the site of the first show and the location that has most frequently served as the host city. It will also be a bit later in June again too. Forge ahead for a slideshow summary representation of this year’s ESX exposition.
