February’s most popular security news, features and events, featuring ADT’s acqusition of DIY player LifeShield, an Alarm.com patent infringement case and more.

While it may have been a somewhat slow month as far as breaking security news goes, February was very busy for ADT.
The security giant recently integrated FirstNet service into ADT Command alarm panels. FirstNet is a dedicated, nationwide communications platform for public-safety agencies being built with AT&T in a public-private partnership with the First Responder Network Authority (FirstNet Authority), an independent agency within the U.S. Commerce Department.
Earlier in the month, ADT acquired DIY pioneer LifeShield for around $25 million. ADT said the addition of LifeShield’s technology will increase ADT’s ability to address the approximately 80% of U.S. households who do not have professionally installed and monitored home security.
Speaking of DIY, Lowe’s announced the demise of its Iris smart home platform after it failed to find a buyer. The platform is shutting down on March 31. On the plus side, customers with eligible products that exclusively work on the Iris platform are able to redeem them for a prepaid VISA gift card.
Other popular security stories on SSI from the month of February include Vivint being fined for violating the Alarm Company Act, SSI‘s 2019 Recurring Revenue Report and much more.
