Security Professionals’ Salaries Up 13 Percent

Security professionals made more money in 2002 than in 2001, according to a recently released survey. The ASIS Int’l 2003 Employment Survey reports that compensation increased 13 percent, with various factors significantly affecting salary.

Those with four-year degrees made an average salary of $86,700, while those without bachelor’s degrees earned $74,100 on average. Security professionals with advanced degrees earned $102,600.

The survey also reports salaries were affected by whether the professional worked at a public or private company. Professionals from private companies earned $85,708, 11- percent less than those in public companies, who made $96,116.

Professional development affected average salaries, ASIS reports, citing that professionals holding the Certified Protection Professional (CPP) designation from ASIS earned 22-percent more than their counterparts without certification.
