It looks like organizations are making sure to finalize their M&A prior to the new year. With a few days still left in the month, November has already seen seven acquisitions (plus Anixter’s sale which just missed the cutoff, taking place at the very end of October).

The deal that most piqued the interest of SSI online visitors was Allied Universal’s agreement to merge with SOS Security Services, a global provider of manned guarding and other security services.

The deal was actually the third of the month for Allied. The other two purchases consisted of another manned guarding company and an integrator. In September, SSI spoke with Allied about its new focus on being a technology provider. You can check out that interview, here.

At the beginning of the month, New York-based Aventura Technologies made national headlines when it was charged with illegally importing and selling Chinese-made video surveillance equipment to U.S. government agencies and private customers under the guise of it being manufactured in the U.S.

The charges came exactly a month after 28 Chinese tech firms, including Dahua and Hikvision, were added to a U.S. blacklist.
