MOBILE, Ala. – The Mobile County School System now has security cameras on all its campuses.

The district already had surveillance cameras in middle and high schools since 2000. Now, all elementary schools will have them when school starts in the fall, WKRG.com reports.

Bagby & Russell Electric Company installed the system and will monitor the feed 24/7 through a closed circuit system. School administrators will also be able to monitor the surveillance footage.

District officials maintain that the new cameras are strictly for security purposes in the hallways and the exterior of all buildings, not for classrooms.
