Electronic security solutions provider Sensormatic Electronics Corp. has completed the acquisition of the assets of Taiwan-based security systems integrator Enable Systems Engineering Company Ltd. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

Enable, based in Taipei, is Taiwan’s leading high-end security systems integrator with experience in the design, installation and service of both access control and video-surveillance systems. It had been Sensormatic’s non-exclusive dealer of its access control and video systems in Taiwan for the past five years and has operational service offices in Taipei, Hsinchiu and Tainan. The company brings customers such as TSMC, Etron Technology, Far EasTone Telecom and Bank of China to Sensormatic.

“The acquisition of Enable makes Sensormatic the first nonTaiwanese-based security company to deal directly in this expanding market,” stats Per-Olof Loof, Sensormatic’s president and CEO.“Joining a larger organization ensures that we will be able to continue to provide our customers with top-quality products and services,” says Jack Wu, general manager of Enable.

In other company news, a subsidiary of Tyco Int’l Ltd. plans to acquire Sensormatic Electronics Corporation pending approval by various regulatory agencies. The acquisition is expected to be completed sometime in October.
