Sensormatic Electronics Corp. announces that it has installed its first state-of-the-art dome camera at the Utah Olympic Park near Salt Lake City as the one-year countdown begins to the start of 2002 Winter Olympic Games. The camera, which will watch over the bobsled and luge racetrack, is the first of more than 260 indoor and outdoor Sensormatic dome cameras that will protect athletes and visitors at the games, which will take place Feb. 8-24, 2002. The Official Electronic Security Sponsor for the 2002 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, Sensormatic will install hundreds of its most advanced programmable dome cameras at key venues and in the Athlete’s Village to provide overall event safety and athlete security, as well as help monitor crowd control.
“Sensormatic is proud to be a sponsor of the Winter Olympic Games, but, more importantly, we are proud that our technology can help make these games more safe and secure for the participants, their families, visitors and staff,” says Per Olof-Loof, president and CEO of Sensormatic. “Our newest programmable dome cameras, like the one currently being installed at the Utah Olympic Park, can see more clearly at night than the human eye and have the capability to track athletes as they race down the course.”
