Sensormatic’s video surveillance equipment has been installed to protect the vault that holds the medals for the 2002 Winter Olympics. O. C. Tanner, the official supplier of medals to the games, selected Sensormatic digital surveillance and recording equipment to monitor the vault area.
Joyce Anderson, vice president of Olympic business development for O. C. Tanner says, “Sensormatic’s technology is the perfect choice to watch over these spectacular gold, silver and bronze medals.” Anderson goes on to say, “We are pleased that some of the same technology being used to help protect the Olympic Winter Games is now employed in our buildings to help safeguard these coveted medals until they are turned over to the organizers of the Salt Lake Games and presented to the winning athletes.”
The Sensormatic surveillance cameras installed at the O. C. Tanner facility can magnify an image up to 176 times, see better in the dark than the human eye and feature sophisticated software that enables them to focus on an event without the aid of an operator. Anyone entering the vault area without proper authorization will be detected automatically. Outside the vault area, access will be controlled with biometric technology using facial recognition software.
Sensormatic products will also be used in the Olympic venue itself.
