SENSORMATIC TO SECURE 2002 WINTER GAMES; ACCESS DIVISION ADDS MICROSOFT’S SUPPORT SERVICES

BOCA RATON, Fla.

Sensormatic Electronics Corp. has been selected as the Official Electronic Security Sponsor for the 2002 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games in Salt Lake City, as well as the 2000, 2002 and 2004 U.S. Olympic Teams. Through its agreement with the Olympic Properties of the United States (OPUS)—the joint marketing venture between the Salt Lake Organizing Committee (SLOC) and the United States Olympic Committee (USOC)—Sensormatic will provide integrated electronic security systems for the 2002 Games and the U.S. Olympic Training Centers in Colorado Springs, Colo., Chula Vista, Calif., and Lake Placid, N.Y.

The systems will include access control, video surveillance, asset protection, remote digital video transmission and asset tagging and tracking equipment. “We pride ourselves in developing products that help make the world a safer place and are pleased that they will be used to help secure this world-class event,” says Sensormatic President/CEO Per-Olof Loof. In other Sensormatic news, the company announced that its Access Control and SensorID Division (ACD) has become a Microsoft Certified Solution Provider (MCSP), giving it access to software design, application development and other support services from Microsoft Corp.
