Shooting Prompts Integrator to Donate Alarms to Schools

SOMERSET, Ky. — In the wake of the deadly Newtown, Conn., school shootings, David Morris, president of Modern Systems based here, donated alarm systems to the 13 schools in the Pulaski County School System.

Morris came up with “Operation Security Blanket” after attending a memorial for the victims of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting, which left 20 students and six adults dead, WKYT.com reports.

Realizing that most school districts can only afford to install access control systems and security systems, Morris’ Modern Systems will install three panic alarms in every school in the district — totaling up to $60,000 — free of charge.

Morris hopes to encourage other security companies nationwide to donate security systems to keep schools safer, according to WKYT.com.
