Late in 1999, the Security Industry Association (SIA) announced, through its CCTV Interest Group, that the association would develop a CCTV technician certification program with the National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies (NICET). SIA reports the program is continuing and significant progress is being made. One major development is that the National Systems Contractors Association (NSCA) is assisting in the development of the CCTV certification program. NSCA worked with NICET to develop an audio certification program.
“We are very pleased with the progress and with the working relationship we have with both NSCA and NICET,” says Jay Hanger, SIA director of education and technical services. “We chose NICET because of its reputation and it is living up to it. NCSA is just a natural partner and we are pleased to be able to tap its body of knowledge.” The program is designed to provide benefits to a wide range of interests in the CCTV community.
