The Security Industry Association (SIA) is offering a 40-hour central station training (CST) program to certify students as both operators and instructors.
The course, which includes classroom training with supervised exams, provides information about the entire process of training a central station operator. It identifies the necessary elements of an in-house training program and teaches techniques for evaluating progress and working with students to improve their performance.
“As a result of attending the central station training course, I was able to streamline the existing operator training to include more standardized procedures and workplace scenarios for our colleagues,” says Andrew Skehan, a quality analysis specialist in Citizens Financial Bank’s Capability Investigations and Physical Security Division. “It made me rethink my approach to projects and issues. Since completing the course, I have been given the responsibility to apply the methods and principles of the CST course throughout our division.”
SIA’s CST schedule includes the following dates and locations:
- July 20-24 – Kissimmee, Fla.
- August 17-21 – Alexandria, Va.
- September 14-18 – Kissimmee, Fla.
- October 5-9 – Baltimore
