SIA Partners With DHS Science & Technology Directorate

Published: October 1, 2013

SILVER SPRING, Md. — The Security Industry Association (SIA) and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Science & Technology Directorate have signed a memorandum of understanding in an effort to promote information sharing between the two groups. This is the first time that SIA has signed such an agreement with a federal agency.

As DHS continues to provide technological capabilities to its operating components and the nation’s first responders, it is imperative that the organization maintains awareness of cutting-edge advancements in the electronics industry, according to the memorandum. Through the agreement, SIA will provide DHS employees, first responders, end users and private sector personnel with online or in-person sessions to exchange information and facilitate technical discussions on common goals and achievable objectives.

“We are very proud to have the opportunity to work with the DHS Science & Technology Directorate,” SIA CEO Don Erickson says. “They do critical work every day to secure the nation’s people and critical infrastructure. SIA and its members will do all that we can to ensure that DHS knows about the latest and most innovative electronic security solutions.”

SIA and DHS will host a joint Webinar in the near future to announce more details of the agreement.
